A Maldivian flight with "a direct contact" of a confirmed Covid-19 case on-board has been instructed to return to Velana International Aiport (VIA) under orders of the Health Protection Agency (HPA).

A credible source told RaajjeMvV that a flight of the country's national airline was en-route to Kaadehdhoo from Male' City when it had been instructed to return to VIA. The flight reportedly had "a direct contact" of a confirmed Covid-19 case on-board.

While the flight is to have returned at 14:30, there have been no official comment on the matter.

Authorities have initiated contact tracing for the confirmed case of Covid-19 discovered from Male' City. A 24-hour lockdown has also been declared in the capital in connection to the case.
