The confirmed COVID-19 patient from Male' City had no travel history abroad, according to sources of RaajjeMV.

A family relative of the confirmed case stated that only two people live in the patient's apartment and that they had visited Hulhumale' during the weekend.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirmed that the patient had no travel history abroad, and that the person had tested positive upon presenting to Male' flu clinic with flu-like symptoms on Tuesday night.

It noted that 'a rapid response team was active immediately upon confirmation and that the patient's home had been quarantined'.

The authority has urged the public to follow all instructions, appealing for citizens to only go outside for essential needs and maintain physical distancing,.

The total number of cases has risen to 21 as of Wednesday. While 16 people have recovered, three people are undergoing treatment (all Maldivians) and two cases had been confirmed after they had departed the country.
