Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested a man in possession of drugs from Kulhudhuffushi City.
As such, authorities revealed that a 33-year-old Maldivian man was arrested in an operation conducted by the Kulhudhuffushi Police Station in cooperation with the Police Intelligence Unit, as part of the authorities’ efforts to combat drug trafficking and smuggling in the island nation.
The arrest was made on Saturday, after 'a tip-off.'
Officers confiscated four rubber packets filled with suspected narcotics upon searching the man, who was taken into police custody from the city’s harbor area.
Kulhudhuffushi Magistrate Court has since remanded the man to 15 days and he is to be kept in a remand facility decided by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Police have launched further investigations into the case.
