China has reiterated the country's commitment to assisting the Maldives in efforts against Covid-19.
On Thursday, Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi held telephonic discussions regarding efforts against Covid-19.
During these discussions, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that the southeastern Asian nation is ready and willing to provide the required assistance to the Maldives. As such, China has offered to share its experience in epidemic prevention and control to aid the Maldives in efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Praising the measures taken by the Maldives against Covid-19, Minister Wang stated that China is sure of Maldives' ability to overcome the epidemic under the leadership of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Minister Shahid also commended steps taken by China to control the spread of the virus. He went onto brief his Chinese counterpart on the economic challenges faced by the Maldives as a result of the pandemic.
Minister Shahid also extended his appreciation for China's donation of epidemic prevention materials that were provided in March.
