Asian Development Bank (ADB) is set to donate USD 500,000 to the Maldives as grant aid in the efforts against Covid-19.
The grant aid amounts to approximately MVR 7.7 million.
This was announced during a press conference by the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) on Sunday night by the spokesperson for the government's Covid-19 taskforce, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz. He revealed that the grant aid will be provided from the bank's Disaster Response Fund.
ADB had previously donated USD100,000 earlier this month as well.
Likewise, the World Bank is also set to donate USD 10 million to the country.
ADB has allocated USD 6.5 million to disburse as grant aid amongst member states.
