An additional person that tested positive for the Covid-19 infection has recovered in the Maldives.
Speaking at a press conference by the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) on Saturday, Dr. Moosa Murad revealed that one of the five patients that tested positive for Covid-19 from Kuredu Island Resort has recovered. The individual was taken to an isolation facility of March 7th, said authorities.
Dr.Murad stated that two samples were taken from the patient after the individual stopped exhibiting symptoms, adding that the first test was conducted on March 18th and the second was on March 20th.
Both tests results have come back negative, thus, the patient is considered a recovered case, said Dr. Murad.
This comes shortly after authorities announced the country's first two recoveries on Friday night.
With the additional recovery announced today, the total number of confirmed cases has dropped from thirteen to ten.
All recovered patients will continue to be monitored for a 30 day period, said authorities.
