Paradise Island Resort under monitoring following 10 suspected cases
 
There are 13 confirmed cases of the virus in the Maldives thus far
 
All 10 have been placed under home-isolation
 
They are all from Paradise Island Resort, which has been placed under monitoring

Paradise Island Resort has been brought under monitoring after the discovery of 10 individuals symptomatic to the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Speaking to press on Thursday afternoon, Covid-19 spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed that 10 individuals are being tested for Covid-19 from Paradise Island Resort.

Eight Maldivians are included among the ten, and authorities did not disclose whether the remaining two are guests at the resort or workers.

As the resort is currently under monitoring, entry into the resort is banned. Those currently there are banned from leaving as well. The ban will remain in place until the results come back.

The individuals have been placed under home-isolation, revealed authorities.

As of 2pm Thursday, there are 13 confirmed cases of the virus in the Maldives; five from Kuredu Island Resort and two each from Kuramathi Maldives, Sandies Bathala, Anantara Dhigu and Island Safari 1.

There are 25 individuals quarantined at Vilivaru and 75 in Hulhulé Island Hotel, 16 in Velidhu isolation and 51 quarantined in Fun Island.
