MNDF has urged the public to reach out to their coastguard through toll-free number 191 if any information on the missing vessel is acquired

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) Coastguard has begun search for a fishing vessel that went missing with five individuals on board.

“Almas” was reported missing to the MNDF CG’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Center a little past 3pm on Wednesday.

Authorities revealed that the last time someone was able to contact a crew member was on 15 March, last Sunday, close to 10am.

At the time, the boat was in Vaavu atoll.

Missing is a 35-foot long green-washed fishing vessel, reported authorities.

MNDF has urged the public to reach out to their coastguard through toll-free number 191 if any information on the missing vessel is acquired.
