Moomina Adam has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the state orphanage, "Kudakuhdhinge Hiyaa" located in capital city Malé’s suburban district Villimalé.
The appointment was made by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Tuesday.
The government appointed Moomina at the level of Deputy Minister, in the public office hierarchy.
Former Commissioner of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC), Moomina previously worked as an appointed member to “Health Promotion Advisory Board” during 2019.
The recipient of the National Award of Recognition in 2014 for her contributions in the area of Sports has been serving in broadcasting as well as sports for a long time.
Moomina won the Rehendhi Awards in 2019 as well and is appointed months after her successor, Abdul Shukoor Abdul Hakeem was relieved of his duties in January following investigations by the Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM).
However, Shukoor has since been appointed as Deputy Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services, despite his suspension from the orphanage.
The Villimalé children’s shelter is home to children above 13, children younger than 13 is placed under state care at the orphanage in Hulhumalé, “Fiyavathi”.
