Authorities have placed a foreign national from Anantara Kihavah under home-isolation as a precautionary measure against the fast-spreading Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) across the globe.
This was announced via Twitter late Monday.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that samples will be taken from the foreigner, who is to have developed Covid-19-like symptoms.
Following this, the resort has been added to the list of the islands under monitoring.
Covid-19 emerged in Maldives on 7 March, the first two cases being discovered in Kuredu Island Resort after an Italian tourist who vacationed there, reported to authorities that he had tested positive to the disease after returning home.
13 cases have surfaced since;
· Five from Kuredu Island Resort,
· Two from Kuramathi Resort,
· Two from Sandies Bathala Maldives,
· Two from Anantara Dhigu, and
· Two from a safari boat, “Island Safari 1”.
