Authorities have begun monitoring a Maldivian who visited the travel clinic following Covid-19-like symptoms.
This was revealed by Mabrook Aziz, the government’s Covid-19 task-force’s spokesperson, who gave the latest details of the Covid-19 situation in the Maldives via a press conference on Monday night.
The individual is to have visited the travel clinic for consultation on Monday.
The person has since been taken to Farukolhufushi for isolation as a precautionary measure and samples have been taken for testing.
In addition, an individual who has developed Covid-19-like symptoms after returning from Slovenia is also being tested, and has been isolated, said Mabrook.
Samples have also been taken from two foreign nationals in Mathiveri island of Alif Alif atoll following symptoms to the disease.
The individuals have been placed under home-isolation and the island has been placed under monitoring.
Thus far, there have been 13 confirmed cases of the fatal infection, in the Maldives; five from Kuredu Island Resort where the first cases emerged and two each from Kuramathi, Sandies Bathala, Anantara Dhigu and a safari boat, Island Safari 1.
