Covid-19 fears lead to cinemas across Maldives closing doors
This has been done as a precautionary measure
Movie theaters have been ordered to shutter temporarily as well
Cinemas are to be closed for a period of two weeks

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has ordered movie theaters across the Maldives to shut down temporarily.

As such, this decision was reached in compliance with the state of public health emergency declared across the entire country on 12 March.

The decision aims to boost the preventative measures being implemented in the government’s efforts to stop the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Maldives, which surfaced in the country on 7 March.

Under the decision, all movie theaters and cinemas across the country are ordered to close their doors for service temporarily.

HPA has urged the public to follow through the authorities’ instructions and measures under their jurisdiction.

Cinemas have been shuttered for a period of two weeks.

Further, the authorities have also suspended tutoring and tuition classes for a period of a week, along with closing schools and educational institutions.
