Physical fitness centers and gym establishments across the capital city, Malé have temporarily shut down.
This comes amid ever-increasing fears of the fast-spreading Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) across the globe, owing to which the government of Maldives has declared a state of public emergency across the entire nation.
The decision was reached following a meeting held between fitness club, center and gym owners in the capital on Monday.
The reveal was made via a statement.
The temporary lock down is effective through 28 March, revealed authorities.
The statement goes on to urge fitness establishments across the entire Maldives to follow through with the decision as well, as a precautionary measure against the virus.
