Along with the individual positive to the disease, another individual is also being transferred following close contact with the patient. Samples have been taken for testing as well, said HPA.

Moreover, two more individuals have been placed under home isolation in Six Senses Laamu, it has been revealed.

The authority revealed that both individuals are being monitored after they disclosed that they had been in contact with an individual who turned positive to the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).

The precautionary measure was taken as both, foreign, individuals had come in contact with the Covid-stricken individual before their arrival in Maldives.

Although they have been placed under isolation, the island is not under monitoring status yet as neither of them have shown symptoms that indicate they have the virus.

In total 4 foreign individuals have been placed in home-isolation in the island, said the agency.

With this being said, there have been a total of nine cases in the Maldives thus far, all from foreigners.

In addition, samples are being taken for testing and monitoring, from a foreign national suspected of having the virus. The individual is from Fehendhoo island in Baa atoll.

The island is currently under monitoring.
