Sergeant Yaugoob Ahmed
An officer of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has died while fishing on the reef of Emboodhoo island.
The deceased is Sergeant Yaugoob Ahmed.
According to the MNDF, coastguard divers found his body underwater while searching for him after he was reported missing. Efforts are underway to transport his body to the capital city, said MNDF.
The authorities further disclosed that Yaugoob had gone spear fishing prior to his death.
As such, reports claim that Yaugoob had gone fishing on a dinghy with a small group on Monday afternoon.
