As part of efforts to build an all-inclusive community and enrich lives, local telecommunications provider Oordeoo Maldives has launched a special postpaid plan for the deaf community in Maldives.
“Mashaa Eku” was launched on Tuesday and it enables members of the deaf community to enjoy free video calling services via Viber and Whatsapp on the company’s “Eku” postpaid packages, it further enables existing benefits included in the “Eku” plan.
The plan was launched by Ooredoo's Assistant Manager Public Relations, Noora Ibrahim Zahir and Maldives Deaf Association's Administrative Director Ahusan Abdul Rahman.
The plan was launched to support the main platform of communication, via internet to the deaf community.
A dedicated Viber hotline, 9611929 was also established to allow customers catering this plan, to communicate via sign language with Ooredoo Customer Care. The facility has 15 employees trained in basic sign language, in collaboration with the Deaf Association.
The new postpaid package is customized to suit requirements and the “Eku” plan offers the “biggest data allowance” in the market.
Administrative Director of the Deaf Association, Ahusan Abdul Rahman extended gratitude to the telecom provider for recognizing the needs of the community and adding more services they can enjoy.
All members of the deaf community registered at the National Social and Protection Agency (NSPA) are eligible for the “Mashaa Eku” plan and applications will be accepted through the Maldives Deaf Association.
