The Maldives Meteorological Service has advised caution as adverse weather conditions are predicted over most of the country over the next 48 hours.

The department issued a white alert from Haa Alif to Laamu Atoll on Tuesday morning and estimated winds to be strong, gusting at 23 - 29 miles per hour.

For the next 48 hours, strong winds and choppy seas are expected over most regions, and swell wave surges are also expected during high tides, to some regions, revealed the department.

As it is expected to be windy across the country, MET went on to caution the public, especially sea farers to be cautious while traveling.

Seas are expected to be generally rough, with winds gusting from northeast to easterly at 17 to 27 miles per hour in central and northern atolls and 13 to 23 miles per hour in southern atolls.
