Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has reassured the public that they are fully equipped and ready to handle any suspected cases of coronavirus, which is spreading fast across several countries.

Taking to Twitter, MACL stated that temperature screening is proceeding for all inbound travelers at Velana International Airport (VIA).

The Tweet goes on to read that the company is working closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure safety is maintained for everyone.

As several countries have come to alert following the deadly coronavirus coming out of Wuhan City, Hubei Province in China, Maldives Ministry of Health has begun a special operation to ensure safety for the people. As such, the Ministry of Health and relevant authorities began taking adequate measures in order to curb an outbreak of the virus in Maldives, which is expected following the high tourist arrivals from China. As such, the ministry has begun operating a thermal camera to screen tourists arriving through VIA.

The ministry has since given its 100 percent that all the required measures will be taken to prevent the disease from surfacing.

Since, Fonadhoo island in Kaafu atoll as been allocated as a quarantine zone in the case of a coronavirus outbreak.
