Maldives offers condolences to flood-stricken Indonesia

Mudslides damaged more than 2,000 houses in several villages across Indonesia
The government of Maldives has extended condolences to the flood-stricken Republic of Indonesia.
In a message to the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, Solih wrote that the people and government of Maldives share the grief of the people and government of Indonesia following the devastating floods in Jakarta that took the lives of many, left several injured and incurred extensive damage to property in its wake.
Having conveyed condolences to the bereaved and misplaced families, the president extended hope for the recovery efforts of the calamity to be successful.
Jakarta was hampered with torrential rain showers which caused flood, mudslides and blackouts over the entirety of several villages since Tuesday.
The death toll has risen to over 60 and thousands displaced and over 35,000 people unable to return to their homes that have been submerged in mucky waters rising up to 1.5 meters.
The country’s meteorological agency has predicted the unforgiving rain showers to prevail over the next month as well, and the recent flood have been reported the worst flooding since 2007. International media also reports that mudslides and flash floods have swept away and damaged over 2,000 homes in a scatter of several villages.
