Every year, the government declares the day of the presidential address a holiday

The government has declared 3 February, a Monday, the day President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is scheduled to deliver his second presidential address, a public holiday.

The reveal was made by the spokesperson at the President’s Office, Ibrahim Hood on Monday.

While the president delivered his inaugural presidential address at the first parliament sitting of 2019, his second address is scheduled to be delivered at the inauguration of the People’s Majlis on 3 February, as per the Maldives Constitution.

According to the Maldives Constitution, “at the beginning of the first session of each year at the first sitting, the President shall address the People’s Majlis on the state of the country, and may present proposals for improving the state of the country to the People’s Majlis.”

Every year, the government declares the day of the presidential address a holiday.
