Police arrests man for attempting to flee after hitting officer with vehicle
The arrest was made on Saturday morning
Arrested was a 34-year-old Maldivian man
His license has been confiscated for illegal and unsafe transportation of goods

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested a man who attempted to flee after hitting a police officer with his motorcycle.

MPS revealed that the arrest was made after officers stopped two men who were illegally transporting goods on a motorcycle in capital city Malé. As such, the two men were evidently carrying goods on Chaandhanee Magu close to 11am on Saturday and they had reportedly ignored officers’ orders to stop on the side of the road.

Further, police reported that the man riding the motorcycle had refused to provide his information and proceeded to talk to the officer “inappropriately” using foul language. He then hit the officer with his motorcycle and attempted to flee.

Arrested was a 34-year-old Maldivian man and he is accused of obstructing law enforcement and attacking a law enforcement officer.

Police went on to highlight that the man’s license has been withheld for illegal and unsafe transportation of goods.

MPS has since launched further investigations into the case.
