MDP opens submissions to contest primaries for LCE2020
The party will accept submissions from Monday, 30th December onwards.

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has announced that they are officially open for submissions to participate in the party's primaries for the upcoming local council election.
According to the announcement issued by MDP, the party will accept submissions to participate in the primaries for the 2020 Local Council Elections from Monday, 30th December onwards.
Candidates are instructed to list the council they are interested in contesting on the application form and submit the required documents to the party's secretariat before 16:00 of January 10th.
As such, MDP has previously stated that only members registered at the party before 1 January 2020 can contest or vote in the party's primaries.
Moreover, MDP announced that the voter's list for the primaries will be publicised on January 6th while the final list of candidates will be announced on January 13th with a three period to submit concerns or complaints.
The application form will be available via their website (www.mdp.org.mv) or through the party's secretariat office.
The 2020 Local Council Elections are to be held on April 4th.
