PPM refuses to collaborate with any party within the ruling coalition

They are willing to collaborate only on the condition that they leave the current ruling coalition.

Vice-president of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and head of the Progressive Coalition's local council election steering committee, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the alliance will not collaborate with any political party that is part of the current ruling coalition.

Muizzu stated this while speaking at a press conference held by the Progressive Coalition regarding the upcoming local council elections. Responding to a question posed by a RaajjeMV reporter asking whether the coalition will collaborate with any more political parties for the upcoming election, Muizzu stated that they are willing to collaborate only on the condition that they leave the current ruling coalition.

According to Muizzu, the Progressive Coalition is presently the only party against the current administration, hence, the alliance is only willing to work with like-minded parties.

The coalition has previously collaborated with the Jumhooree party, a party within the ruling coalition, to contest the 2019 parliamentary elections. Likewise, both parties co-ordinated together by not competing for the same seats in certain constituencies and endorsing each other's candidates.

Nevertheless, the Progressive Coalition has announced that the alliance will be contesting council seats in every district in the upcoming local council elections and that all of the coalition's candidates will contest seats on PPM's ticket.
