Bribery complaints filed against Ex-AG
Allegations claim Anil took bribes from former VP Adeeb and business tycoon Sun Shiyam

Bribery complaints have been filed at the Anti-Corruption Commission of the Maldives (ACC) against Former Attorney General (AG), Mohamed Anil.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, a media official from the ACC confirmed that the commission has received three complaints accusing the former AG of bribery on Wednesday.
The three complaints accuse Anil of:
1. taking MVR 22 million worth of bribes from former vice-president Ahmed Adeeb
2. using the position as AG to influence the recruitment of senior officials to the attorney generals office, and
3. taking bribes from business tycoon and MP for Meedhoo constituency, Shiyam Mohamed, better known as Sun Shiyam, to ensure that his business is provided a Sovereign Guarantee.
Some news reports state that the complaint alleges the former AG of receiving an apartment in Malaysia as well as a car from former vice-president Adeeb.
While senior government officials of the previous administration have been accused and taken to trial over corruption charges, many have accused Anil of having close relations to the corrupt senior officials. Likewise, allegations claim Anil actively gave legal counsel to former president Abdulla Yameen, who has recently been jailed for money laundering.
