After concluding a trip to two southernmost cities, Vice President Faisal Naseem has returned to capital city Malé on Thursday.
His first stop of the trip was to Addu City where he toured the hospital development project being carried out at the Addu Convention Center in Hithadhoo district and observed the progress.
During the tour, he met with the staff and management of the hospital, he reassured the government’s commitment to improve healthcare services across the nation.
He then travelled to Fuvahmulah City, where the dialysis services at Gnaviyani Atoll Hospital were officially launched by him.
During the function, VP Naseem highlighted the government’s priority in improving health care services and assured that it is committed to address the pressing needs of the people in the sector.
Further, he added that a large amount has been allocated for health sector development in the state budget for 2020. This will help invest more to prevent non-communicable diseases and upgrade the overall services being provided.
While the new dialysis unit has the capacity to treat three patients at a time, it has the capacity to serve 15-200 patients every day.
In addition, VP Naseem also visited the Drug Treatment and Detoxification Center during the latter visit and inspected work being carried out for road development as well.
