Judge Ali Sameer has been appointed to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih presented the judge with his letter of appointment at a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Thursday morning.

Afterwards, the newly appointed member took his oath of office in front of Supreme Court Justice Aisha Shujune Muhammad.

Sameer was elected as the High Court’s representative at JSC on Tuesday.

The vote was taken following Judge Abdul Rauf Ibrahim’s decision to resign from the commission this Sunday.

Ali Sameer studied law in Egypt’s Al Azhar University, and earned his masters in Corporate Law at Malaysia’s International Islamic University.

He was appointed to the High Court bench on 26th March 2011.
