President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih returned to Malé on Monday morning after concluding his official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The president traveled to UAE on Friday, and was accompanied by the Speaker and former president, Mohamed Nasheed. Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid also joined them, after concluding an official visit to Finland.
While the delegation traveled to the middle eastern nation on the invitation Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, they met with him on Sunday.
At the meeting, the president expressed gratitude for UAE’s continued support to the Maldives especially in the business, economic and social sectors and described the nation as close ally of the Maldivian people.
Both parties also discussed on ways to further cooperate in various fields, as well as on strengthening bilateral ties. Furthermore, President Solih and the crown prince gave commitment to continue to work together in the future as well.
While the UAE celebrates National Day on November 2, the president also extended greetings on the joyous occasion.
Solih and Nasheed also met with Mohammed Bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, on Sunday afternoon.
