Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs has concluded his official visit to Finland and headed to the United Arab Emirates late Friday.
While the foreign minister ended his Finland visit late Friday, he took to Twitter revealing that he is traveling to the UAE to join President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Speaker, former president Mohamed Nasheed.
During his visit to Finland, FM Shahid discussed ways to enhance the existing bilateral ties between Maldives and Finland, with his Finnish counterpart Pekka Haavisto and the country’s Education Minister, Li Andersson.
Further discussions included ways to expand the trade ties between both countries, with the Finnish business community.
The visit also saw the signing of an Air Services Agreement which will allow international commercial air transport services between both countries. It further aims to contribute to further the people-to-people contact and expand economic cooperation between Maldives and Finland.
The foreign minister was accompanied in Finland by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, Non-Resident Ambassador of Maldives to Finland Ahmed Latheef, Minister of State for Economic Development Mohamed Iaad Hameed and Director Shiuneen Rasheed.
