The man who was stabbed and thrown overboard is in critical condition, says Maldives Police Service (MPS).
Authorities say they received reports of a 26 year old man getting treatment for stab wounds at AA.Maalhos Health Centre, around 3:06 am on Friday morning. He has since been brought to the capital and is currently receiving treatment from IGM Hospital.
According to the MPS, the 26 year old was taken to Male' around 08:50 am on Friday morning by the Coast Guard squadron.
Authorities stated that an argument broke out on a sea-cucumber fishing boat, leading to the 26 year old getting stabbed and thrown overboard.
The victim reportedly swam to Maalhos and is currently in critical condition, says authorities.
Sources say the man suffered from stab wounds in eight areas of his body. The 26 year old is a crew member on a sea-cucumber fishing boat from Madduvari island of Raa atoll. He was stabbed during an altercation on the boat and was thrown overboard.
