A 27-year-old has been arrested, while attempting to smuggle drugs into Kaadehdhoo island in Gaafu Dhaalu atoll.

Police said that the man was arrested at around 9:05pm on Sunday, through an operation conducted by the police intelligence department and the Thinadhoo island police station.

While he stopped and checked after arriving at Kaadehdhoo airport, police said that he was carrying “seven rubber packets” of a substance suspected to be narcotics.

He was taken to the Thinadhoo Magistrate Court, who remanded him for 15 days.

The case is being investigated by the Thinadhoo police station.
