The president visited VIA on Thursday afternoon
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has observed the progress of the expansion project underway at Velana International Airport.
Upon arrival at the airport on Thursday afternoon, the president was received by senior officials at the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
During his visit and tour, Solih was briefed on the operations being carried out in each facility of the airport and the efficiency that would follow for the services offered at the airport, under the development project.
Solih observed the progress of the facilities being constructed under the expansion project including the new sea plane terminal, apron, sea plane maintenance building and the cargo terminal.
Further, the president also observed the progress of the development of the passenger terminal for international flights.
