Bullet from Girifushi Training Center 'grazes' tourist

MNDF has confirmed this, adding that the individual is "in good condition"

A tourist has been grazed, in the neck, by a bullet that is to have travelled to a safari boat near Girifushi island.

Media officer at the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Major Ibrahim Azim confirmed that "the tourist's neck was grazed by a ricochet bullet”.

While the boat was near Girifushi island in Kaafu atoll, MNDF’s Training Center is located there.

Azim said that the individual was immediately transferred to Hulhumale’ for treatment, in MNDF’s sea ambulance.

He added that the tourist is “in good condition.”

Furthermore, the MNDF media officer said that a weapons’ training programme is ongoing in the island on Wednesday.

MNDF continues to investigate the case.
