A new school is to be opened in capital city Malé as part of the government’s vision to resolve the scarcity of space in Malé schools.
The Ministry of Education revealed via a statement on Wednesday, that the “Izzudheen School” is set to open within the upcoming year.
The school will be built in the building where Malé English School (MES) is located, said the ministry.
The ministry further revealed that the school will teach up to the 10th grade, however, it will teach up to sixth grade during 2020.
Three classrooms will be allocated each for grades between one to four, and two classrooms each for grades five and six.
Classrooms will have the capacity for 25 children and the ministry plans to begin teaching students from grades seven to ten from 2021 onwards.
Further, the new school will follow the set procedure other schools do in enrolling students.
Parents and guardians are required to apply to enroll their children from grades two to six, via letter.
The ministry will be prioritizing applications in the order they are submitted, reveals the statement.
