Maldives Ambassador presents credentials to the Queen of United Kingdom
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid conveyed felicitations to the ambassador on the occasion

Ambassador of Maldives to the United Kingdom Dr Farahanaz Faizal has presented her Letter of Credence to Queen Elizabeth II at the Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.

Taking to twitter following the welcome by the royal family, Dr. Faizal expressed her honor in having presented her credentials from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to the Queen.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid conveyed felicitations to the ambassador on the occasion and expressed his hope that the relations between Maldives and UK will be taken to new heights under her ambassadorship.

While the Letter of Credence confirms an appointee is entrusted to speak on behalf of their country, a reception was held at the Hyatt Regency London – Churchill Hotel after it was presented to the Queen.

Over 100 guests gathered at the hotel including High Commissioners of Commonwealth countries, Ambassadors of SAARC countries, members of Maldives UK All Party Parliamentary Group, Senior Officials of the UK government, Think Tanks, media, Maldivian community as well as several other important stake holders.

During the event, Dr. Faizal delivered an address where she expressed hope that the Maldives application for re-admission into the Commonwealth of Nations will be fast-tracked.

She went on to express her gratitude to the member countries of the Commonwealth and UK for their continued support.

Dr. Faizal was accompanied by her spouse, Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Didi, Trade Representative Mohamed Nazeer and First Secretary Ismail Mamdhooh.
