Opposition holds strike calling for action against MDN
Protestors called to strip MDN officials who hold government posts, from their positions

Opposition coalition has on Friday taken to the streets, protesting to ban Maldives Democracy Network (MDN), arrest its officials and strip them from government positions.

The protest took place in Rasfannu region of capital city Male on Friday evening and protestors called for current MDN officials who fill government posts, to be sacked.

Staunch opposition supporters held a rally on Thursday night as well.

They had called for the Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed to resign from his position as well.

While no arrests were made during the protest which took place from 4pm – 6pm.

The opposition coalition is seen actively holding rallies of recent, and Friday’s protest saw the opposition activists holding banners and calling for the government to take immediate and strict action against MDN, for its 2016 report on “Preliminary Assessment on Radicalization in Maldives”.
