Four individuals are receiving treatment at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) following injuries attained due to a sea accident.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the accident -where two speedboats collided outside the Malé lagoon- was reported to them a little past 10am, and that the injured were rushed to the hospital immediately.

Injured were a 17-year-old woman and three men aged 38, 28 and 50. The 50-year-old attained serious injuries, revealed police.

Both boats were being operated by two individuals who were licensed to ride boats, at the time of the accident.

No further details have been revealed on the extent of their injuries, or the damages incurred by the vessels.

Officers have since launched an investigations into the accident.
