Ahmed Mahir has been appointed as the Ambassador-at-large to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the appointment on Thursday, and he was presented his official letter of appointment at the special ceremony held at the President’s Office in the afternoon.
Mahir previously served as the Ambassador of State and has wide experience and expertise in the tourism industry of Maldives.
Extending felicitations on his appointment, Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid stated that Mahir’s wide experience and expertise in the tourism sector will be an “invaluable asset” in the efforts to promote Maldives national interests in foreign countries.
