Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has recommended former Attorney General Dhiyana Saeed and Drug Court Judge Mahaz Ali for the empty seat at the Supreme Court.
JSC stated that it has highly recommended the two to the President but has not overemphasized one person over the other.
JSC has also recommended High Court judges Mohamed Niyaz, Ali Sameer, and Shuaib Hussain for the position.
JSC stated that it has not determined the specific number of nominations to be submitted to the parliament, since the decision is to be made by the President.
JSC began accepting applications for the position of Supreme Court Justice after the impeachment of Abdulla Didi on August 27 over corruption allegations.
