On the sidelines of his visit to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to attend the Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has held several meetings with officials.
Some of the meetings include with Saudi Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Assaf and Shahid’s counterpart in Palestine, Dr Riyad al-Maliki.
Shahid reassured Foreign Minister Maliki that Maldives support for Palestine will be “unshakable” during the meeting.
Taking to twitter following the meeting with Foreign Minister Al-Assaf, Shahid wrote that the Custodian of the two holy mosques Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, galvanizes support for the Palestine issue and to restoring unity in the Islamic nation.
Shahid travelled to the pilgrimage hub on Saturday, and attended the extraordinary meeting of OIC member states foreign minister on Sunday, which saw discussions into taking urgent measures following the “aggressive stand” by Israel “to impose Israeli sovereignty on all the regions of the Jordan Valley, the Northern Dead Sea, and the settlements in the West Bank” if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is re-elected.
