President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has conferred awards and certificates to the top achieving schools and winning participants of the ‘Miladhekunu Adhabee Eid 2019’, held in Manadhoo island of Noonu atoll.
As part of his ongoing trip to the island, Solih attended the closing ceremony of the linguistic fair on Dhivehi language as the guest of honor, held in the island’s harbor area on Saturday night.
Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage, Yumna Maumoon and other senior institutional representatives accompanied the president at the ceremony.
Held in Manadhoo from 11 to 14 September, the fifth national level fair featured a special book fair, a cultural evening for children, a training programme for poetry training and linguistic training for government institutions.
A training program was also held on Dhivehi language, for students and teachers during the fair, organized by Dhivehi Bahuge Academy.
Previously held in Gaaf Alif, Gaaf Dhaal, Lhaviyani as well as Meemu atolls, the “linguistic Eid” is hosted annually to create awareness and passion for the Dhivehi language among students.
