Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has elected its new President and Vice President.

The new ACC members elected Mariyam Shiuna as the President and Fathimath Anoola as the Vice President.

The four new ACC members were appointed by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday after the terms of the previous members ended.

The new ACC members are Anoola, Shiuna, Aishath Abdulla, and Ali Ashraf.

Previous ACC President Muavviz Rasheed, who was appointed on September 9, 2009, is the only member to have completed two terms, while the rest of the previous members completed one term.

The other members of the previous term were Aminath Minna, Safwath Mohamed, and Yazmeed Mohamed.

Muavviz had replaced Hassan Luthufee as ACC President on July after he resigned over allegations of corruption.

At a recent press conference, Muavviz said that 547 complaints were registered this year, and that ACC investigated 184 of those complaints, which involves state companies.
