The parliament has voted to invite Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe to give an address during his visit to Maldives.
The motion was passed with 70 votes.
The Sri Lankan Prime Minister is set to visit Maldives on September 2 and is invited to address the parliament on September 3, 9:30am.
Prime Minister Wickremasinghe’s scheduled visit to Maldives is on the invitation of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. He will be arriving with his wife and a high-level Sri Lankan delegation and will be chairing the Indian Ocean Conference to be held at Paradise Island Resort.
Two foreign dignitaries have given an address in the 19th parliament. They are Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the EU Commission.
