Gan MP Mohamed Wisam has said that Aasandha Company should be investigated over corruption during the previous government.

MP Wisam said this while speaking in support of Manadhoo MP Ahmed Haaroon’s government-backed motion to transfer the National Social Protection Agency (N-SPA) from the health ministry to the gender ministry.

MP Wisam said that N-SPA had been involved in corruption by selling medicine at inflated prices to companies affiliated with the previous government, under an agreement with Aasandha Company.

It has also been revealed that the previous First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim’s Sadaqat Foundation had used Aasandha Company to finance various activities.

Aasandha Company had spent a total of MVR 1.4 billion up until last December 29. Expressing concern over this, MP Wisam said that the current agreements should be nullified to make way for new contracts to provide affordable medicine to the people.
