Minister of Arts, Heritage, and Culture Yumna Maumoon has said that the opinions of artists are important for the development of the nation.
Minister Yumna said this at the inauguration of the Unveiling Vision art exhibit on Saturday night.
The Minister said that more opportunities need to be provided to allow artists to express themselves and for students to develop their artistic skills.
Minister Yumna said that they are working on these initiatives with the youth ministry due to the large number of young artists.
She also said that the current administration aims to develop Maldivian artistry and that she believes the Maldivian art community’s observation that the National Art Gallery needs to be improved.
The Unveiling Vision art exhibit was inaugurated by Education Minister Aishath Ali and showcases the work of 55 visual artists.
