The government has promised to open Sh Nalandhoo for resort development, says Nalandhoo MP Ali Riza.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s Fala Surukhee show on Thursday night, MP Riza said the government will be developing a resort in Nalandhoo as part of their fifth tourism master plan.
MP Riza said that the residents of Milandhoo constituency’s Narudhoo, Feevah, and Milandhoo islands have a high expectation of the government developing a resort in Nalandhoo.
He said that Nalandhoo is currently used for the aquaculture of sea cucumber and is connected to the income of many residents in Gnaviyani atoll.
He also said that Nalandhoo has over 90 hectares of land and is rich with natural beauty, adding that many foreign investors have expressed in the island.
Highlighting that many of the young people from the Gnaviyani atoll are working in the tourism industry, MP Riza said the bill on resort employee service charge will be evaluated by the committee and sent to the floor soon.
