The rights of workers must be respected and upheld, said Vice President Faisal Naseem.

VP Naseem appealed on everyone to be mindful of the rights of workers and help uphold them at the inauguration ceremony of the first-ever Health Clinic opened in Thilafushi island on Monday night.

He stated that it is imperative that workers’ rights are protected.

Emphasizing that the government highly prioritizes enhancing the health sector, VP Naseem stated that the administration will be initiating several more development projects that have been specifically designed for the progress of the sector, in the near future.

Further, VP Naseem reiterated the government’s delight in finally having been able to provide workers on the island, access to adequate medical care.

Highlighting that workers are entitled to easy access to basic services such as affordable health care just like citizens, VP Naseem had urged everyone to uphold their duty in ensuring their environment is safe and free of health hazards.

In addition, VP Naseem stated that we are indebted to the exemplary efforts workers put into the country’s progress and added that employers have obligations to their employees as much as the rights over them.

The President’s Office revealed that the clinic will cater to the needs of many workers currently employed in the island as well as Gulhifalhu.
