Companies have been contracted to develop waste management centers in three islands.
The companies will be developing the centers in B Dhonfanu, B Hithadhoo, and R Ungoofaaru.
L.F. Construction has been tasked with developing a waste management center in Hithadhoo within 90 days for MVR 1.7 million.
Vehi-Con Builders has been tasked with developing a waste management center in Dhonfanu within 120 days for MVR 2 million, and a center in Ungoofaaru within 120 days for over MVR 800,000.
At the agreement signing ceremony on Monday, Environment Minister Hussain Rasheed said many islands face the problem of poor waste management and that the government needs the support of island residents to solve this issue.
