Parliament’s committee on independent institutions has received a motion to dismiss Civil Service Commission (CSC) Vice President Shaheed Mohamed from his post

Baarah constituency MP Ahmed Abdulla submitted the motion at Sunday's meeting.

The MP accused the commission Vice President of having a hand in all the discrepancies and illegal acts that take place within the commission.

He further pinned allegations of obstructing the rights of CSC members on the commission’s Vice President.

The motion seeks to dismiss Mohamed as he is observed to have been elected to the post although he does not fit the criteria nor have the required qualifications for it and is seen to be negligent towards his responsibilities.

Backing MP Abdulla’s submission, Gan constituency MP Mohamed Wisam had sought to summon members of the commission to the committee meeting on Monday.

They are to be summoned for questioning regarding a complaint submitted by a commission member regarding the employment mandate at the CSC.

The members are to be summoned to the committee meeting scheduled for 11:30am.
