A total of 1,350 parking violation stickers were issued last week, police statistics have revealed.
Maldives Police Service on Sunday publicized its statistics from 22 to 28 June, showing that a total of 591 vehicles had been checked by officers.
Out of the total, officers had towed 39 motorcycles and five vehicles.
Also, police reported 82 cases of speeding, 51 cases of riders who did not pay their vehicle’s annual fee, 38 riders without insurance, 85 without their licenses on them and a total of 117 riders who did not have their licenses renewed.
Four cases of violating traffic signs were reported and two were minors, along with five riders without their helmets. Police further reported 24 cases where riders had their headphones on or were using the phone while riding.
Others include three traffic light violations, two without their number plates and 10 carrying goods while operating a motorcycle.
Statistics also reported 34 road accidents out of which 20 were injurious. Officers had revoked the licenses of seven riders regarding some of the accidents.
