The government has stated that Maldives Partnership Forum has been successful and will result in all of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s pledges being completed within five years.
In a press conference after the conclusion of the two-day forum on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid said that 70% of government projects proposed at the forum will be funded.
Minister Shahid said that the forum participants accepted the government’s “Jazeera Raajje” concept and that the Maldives has regained trust from the international community due to the work of the President down to every employee who continue to move forward toward the same goals.
Also at the press conference, Finance Minister and forum co-chair Ibrahim Ameer said that all the pledges President Solih made for the next five years will be completed because of the discussions held at the forum.
Minister Ameer said that participants were particularly impressed by the government’s transparency and the proposed legal amendments to protect investors.
He said that the government has a plan to fix the country’s debt, financial system, and credit rating, and that the forum participants have stated that they will not hesitate to bring in more investments.

When asked what the difference was between the investment forums held by President Abdulla Yameen’s administration and this government, Foreign Minister Shahid said this was a partnership forum and not an investment forum.
On the same question, Minister Ameer said that the forum was conducted with full participation of the ministers with a complete national development plan.
He also said that funding has been secured for many projects including the Addu Urban Center and that he has full confidence that work will begin soon.
Maldives Partnership Forum 2019 in Kurumba Maldives saw the largest number of participants, with more than 170 representatives from 35 countries and 27 international organizations.
